Ankle Sprains
Ankle sprains are among the most common foot and ankle injuries, occurring when the ligaments that support the ankle are stretched or torn. They can range from mild sprains with minor swelling to severe injuries that result in significant instability and pain.
Most sprains happen during sports, exercise, or accidents such as stepping on uneven surfaces. Symptoms include swelling, bruising, tenderness, and difficulty bearing weight on the affected foot.
Conservative care such as rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE) is often effective for mild sprains. More severe injuries may require bracing, physical therapy, or in rare cases, surgical repair.
We emphasize rehabilitation to restore strength and flexibility, which lowers the risk of chronic instability or repeated sprains. Our team works closely with patients to get them back to normal activity safely and quickly.
